Polishing and Buffing
We specialize in a variety of wheel finishing services, such as polishing, buffing, texturizing, blasting, and stripping, all achieved by integrating manual, automated, and robotic methods.
Over the years our highly trained technicians and managers have developed efficient methods and controls for finishing that are tailored to your wheel program – whether it be for cast, stamped, or forged aluminum wheels.
POLISHING AND BUFFING
This first finishing step is setup and managed individually, wheel program by wheel program, according to each customer’s specific requirements.
Polishing is a controlled abrasive process that removes machining lines, defects, flash, and/or burs off of the wheel’s surface. It is normally done by hand to those wheels that have intricate designs or that are too difficult to reach with an automated buffing wheel.
Buffing, an abrasive process finer than polishing, is as much an art as it is a science. Our automated and computerized carousel work centers, with up to sixteen buffing stations each, were custom designed by our engineers so that the exact same finish could be applied to your wheels time after time. Each buffing station is pre-programmed to apply a certain amount of pressure and RPMs with just the right style of buff and proper amount of buffing compound to generate a smooth surface that is free of lines and surface defects.
TEXTURIZING / BLASTING / STRIPPING
We provide a “value added” service of creating a textured finish on polished/buffed wheels using different types of texturizing media. If only a portion of the wheel needs to be texturized, such as a wheel window pocket, we will use a masking device to selectively accent those areas.
